How quickly has May arrived this year? Only seems like yesterday I was moving my harp in the snow wearing pink flowery wellies and suddenly I am playing outside at beautiful sunny weddings!

This month has already been very exciting and I have been the harpist for a lively drinks reception for 600 people at The Brewery in London, played some gigs for Music in Hospitals in Leominster, provided background music at the National Botanic Garden of Wales for their food festival gala evening and I have also had the privilege to be the harpist at two stunning weddings so far this month, one at the Bath Priory Hotel and the other playing the harp at the Court Colman Manor in South Wales.

The rest of May is equally varied and engagements include several weddings which I am looking forward to providing harp music for. Venues include St Mary’s Golf Club,  Kingscote Barn, St Fagans and various others.

I am also off for a hen weekend in West Sussex for Carina, a great friend of mine, so if you have any good suggestions for games or activities let me know! Really looking forward to playing the harp for her and Steve’s wedding in June of course :-).

Harps in the Great Glasshouse

This year a Summer Harp Festival will be taking place at the National Botanic Garden of Wales on 29^th and 30^th of August. It promises to be an exciting and enjoyable event celebrating the national instrument of Wales.

Students of the harp, all ages and abilities, will be invited to participate in workshops, lectures and performances.

Families looking for a bank holiday day out will be able to enjoy the fantastic surroundings of the Botanic Garden filled with the heavenly sound harpists playing! Families can also join in with a variety of harp related activities such as demonstrations, concerts to watch, instruments and music to browse, harp detective trails around the gardens, try the harp sessions and much more!

A launch of an exciting new venture in an inner city School in Cardiff has just been unveiled. Children will be trying their hand at learning a variety of period instruments within a whole class setting. From beautiful renaissance wooden recorders, medieval harps, traditional percussion instruments and more, children will create a world of Tudor dances and stories from long ago with their music. I am delighted that I will be guiding and working with children learning harp in the sessions on each eight brand new medieval harps brought in especially for the children in this project. With careful direction and music writing from Emma Coulthard (Music Development Fund, Cardiff) the project is sure to be a great success!

Music in Hospitals Harpist

I am thrilled to have been added to Music in Hospitals list of Musicians. I attended auditions at the end of July and have already played my first concert for the charity. It was a lovely concert and the audience joined in by making requests, singing, asking questions, trying the harp and clapping along to the music.

Music in Hospitals - Creating Joy Through Live Music

I am a wedding harpist in Cardiff but I also travel to many different locations near and far from home!  It is wonderful playing all over the UK for couples special days and I really enjoy helping create the perfect day. Venues over the last month or so have included Castell Coch, Manor Park, Amberly Castle, Eccleshall Castle, Park Plaza, Usk Castle and Lansantffraed Court to name but a few. If I have played for you or you have seen me at a Wedding recently do post any feedback you have to give on anything - such as songs you heard or music you wished I had played.
